Our
Story

Get to Know Us

It all started with a simple idea: a few friends practicing beatboxing wherever we could — outside libraries, in food courts, even getting kicked out of stores — just to connect and share our love for the art.

From nothing, West Coast Groove has grown into a supportive, close-knit community that hosts monthly jams and the annual Vancouver Beatbox Championships, giving people a place to learn, perform, and grow. Beatboxing thrives on simple things: an open space, a microphone, and creativity. Every time we create that environment, new voices step forward. Our jams are inclusive, low-barrier, and personal — they build confidence, spark creativity, and foster lifelong friendships.

Our goal is to inspire both youth and adults alike with an art form that has deep cultural roots in North American history.
